Introducing GetMySound: sampling as a service
Niche alert! If you have sounds for some synth but you don't have the synth (maybe you sold it, or it was stolen, maybe it broke, aliens ate it along with your Buick) you can still enjoy its sounds - in sample format.
Creating multisampled digital instruments is a skill in itself, but you also need to have the synth to sample. Guess what: we have them. We have been building up our synth collection for a good while now, and it's time to put it to work.
GetMySound is a new service from the company behind DigitalSynth.net, Conifer Productions. For an affordable price you can get any compatible patch intended for these synths sampled and turned into playable digital instruments, compatible with widely used sample formats.
You can read all the details about the service and how to order from the GetMySound page. For some additional background information, read on.
GetMySound is Sampling as a Service, giving a new meaning to the term "SaaS". Initially it works as a custom service, so it will take a little while to serve your sampling requests, but as the amount of automation is increased, it should get faster.
All the synths currently available for sampling jobs are presented in the GetMySound Gallery. We aim to keep those featured there in active duty, and may add (or remove) synths from time to time. The list of currently available synths is found on the GetMySound main page.
The synths are restored, refurbished and maintained as needed. They all work normally, and the sound quality is as good as it can be given the age of the gear and the components used.
Patches for sampling are received in MIDI System Exclusive format. When you send a patch in for sampling, we analyze it and give you a quote, or more instructions. In some cases we may need to cancel your order for technical reasons.
If you are a sound designer, this is a great way to turn the custom sounds you designed into sample libraries, so that everyone can enjoy them - not just the people who own the old synth. The bottom line is, if you programmed the patch, you can have it sampled by GetMySound and then sell the sample library, either as is (any mentions of GetMySound are appreciated), augmented, or as part of a bigger library.
The sampling is performed on various Mac computers with several audio and MIDI interfaces, using a combination of DAWs and custom software developed by Conifer Productions. (You may remember an iOS app called SynthJacker; this service continues in the spirit of that little guy, which was to our knowledge the first autosampler for iOS.)
